We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced IT Technical Specialist to join the team. This is an 18-month fixed term role with possibility of extension, based at our Sydney York St. office and flexibly from home. This position reports to SDM - Supply Chain & Planning.

As the IT Technical Specialist, you will be responsible for providing day to day operational and technical application support for SQL & Athena DB, Infor AS (Advanced Scheduling) and Power BI reporting applications as necessary. Ensure seamless and uninterrupted delivery of the system, take appropriate actions to minimise the adverse impact of incidents on the business, prevent reoccurrence of Incidents and the resolution of CI’s. Where necessary, liaise with 3rd party organisations who provide enterprise application services for Lion. Provide front-line primary technical support to end users on various technical issues and problems.


Day to Day you will be:


Application Management

  • Support the technical day to day management and resolution of incidents & service requests in assigned application and database areas.
  • Review and verify service requirements with users and undertake independent assurance activities.
  • Ensure that service acceptance criteria are in technical specifications and ensure SAC can be met by the design.
  • Verify performance levels for new, modified, and existing services meet the agreed upon NFR standards.
  • Ensure services are designed to meet Operational and Service Level Requirements.


Service Management

  • Work with partners to address events/incidents/failures/trends from monitoring and management tools
  • Understand impact on business services and determine appropriate control action to address the event/incident/failure
  • Develop event categorisation framework (Informational, Warning, Exception) to qualify and determine the correct allocation or remediating actions. Filter events/incidents/failure to determine the level of criticality and the escalation route required
  • Select the appropriate response to address each specific incident/failure/event (simply reporting is sometimes a suitable response). Where required, automatically open an incident to manage the event & notify relevant stakeholder
  • Log, track events to closure & automate response where appropriate and possible
  • Manage day to day service operations, source and deliver components of standard services. Ensure all activities meet predefined SLAs.


Key skills required

  • Understanding of IT methodologies such as ITIL, Agile, SDLC and Project/portfolio management
  • Detailed knowledge of any ERP / Advanced Planning & Scheduling Solutions across one of the following areas Supply chain or Manufacturing
  • Strong proficiency with SQL and its variation among popular databases
  • Experience with some of the modern relational databases
  • Skilled at optimizing large, complicated SQL statements
  • Knowledge of best practices when dealing with relational databases
  • Ensure performance, security, and availability of databases
  • Ability to plan resource requirements from high level specifications
  • Capable of troubleshooting common database issues
  • Ability to scale up and work on inhouse tool set as required



  • Degree qualifications in IT/Business or related discipline
  • Professional or industry qualifications in ITIL, PMBOK or related
  • Proficient knowledge at IT service portfolio (plan, build, transition, run)
  • Strong understanding of IT governance framework and operating model



  • 5+ years’ experience as an IT Technical Specialist in Applications development or management including database management skills
  • Experience in providing application service support
  • Proven experience with large scale and complex IT project change programs/releases within a complex IT environment
  • Expert knowledge of ITIL disciplines
  • Working knowledge of ServiceNow Service Management ticketing tool
