Packaging Development Technologist

To ensure sustainable success in the marketplace by supporting new product launches as well as developing innovative packaging materials, we are looking for a Packaging Development Technologist to join the Packaging Development team.
This role reports to our Packaging Development Manager and will be based at Sydney Olympic Park where you'll be part of a trans-tasman team. 
As a Packaging Development Technologist at Lion, you will be responsible to drive and support the development of innovative, sustainable & cost-effective packaging solutions to ensure that our brands and operations are optimal.

•    Ensure new materials and formats meet raw material specifications
Culture
•    Build good stakeholder relationships to enable great customer service
Excellence
•    Drive packaging developments that enable Lion to come to market with innovative new ideas and projects
•    Leverage knowledge of industry developments and supplier capabilities to provide evaluations on new materials
•    Support the Environmental team by championing Sustainable Packaging designs in line with our commitment to reduce our Packaging Materials footprint
•    Monitor all packaging from concept to implementation and provide evaluations to continually improve packaging solutions
Value
•    Create and develop new packaging options in line with Marketing and Innovation briefs and Sustainability initiatives by working with suppliers, leading factory teams to organise trials, commissioning, and evaluation of results
•    Co-ordinate materials trials with our suppliers and integration teams to realise re-engineering opportunities in addition to NPD & Innovation


The successful applicant will have:

•    Understanding of the material manufacturing processes
•    Ability to work independently; able to influence and work collaboratively
•    Strong technical, analytical, communication and project management skills
•    Strong working knowledge of a wide variety of packaging materials
•    Ability to manage complex, diverse and changing priorities, highly motivated
•    Good business and commercial acumen
•    Qualification in Packaging or Packaging / Materials Engineering would be highly regarded
