Senior Category Manager

Looking for an opportunity to spread your wings and work across Australia’s best known Dairy Yogurt and Juice brands.  This is rare opportunity to work on more than one category across a high-profile portfolio within the Lion Dairy & Drinks business.

Due to a recent internal promotion we are currently on the hunt for an experienced Senior Category Manager to build and translate category strategies into channel specific range and assortment, merchandising and activation plans that engage the shopper to maximise trial and repeat. You will be partnering with someone of Australia’s best-known Dairy, Yoghurt & Juice brands. Our brands include: Farmers Union, Pura, Juice brothers, Dare, Dairy Farmers, YO-GO, Berri just to name a few.


You will be responsible for developing actionable category growth strategies for Total Beverages and translating them to the On the Go Channel. In this key role you will be partnering with Lion Sales and Marketing to bring innovative category strategies and executions to life with key customers


Partnering with Marketing and Sales, you look to develop brand and customer strategies in line with annual planning process, ensuring alignment to category growth strategies. You will also provide expert category analysis and recommendations across areas of promotion; distribution, pricing, product mix and profitability via customer specific data, and manage the preparation process of Convenience customer range reviews for MBB, Juice, Yoghurt and White Milk.

A key element of this role is to lead new thinking to inspire and energise the Category team and broader organisation, and proactively contribute to development and delivery of best practice category management across the team.


The ideal candidate will have:


  • Outstanding verbal and written communication, strength in collaborating to achieve
  • Demonstrates deep and sophisticated knowledge of the customer and shopper
  • Ability to lead and influence key internal and external stakeholders
  • Strength in analysing portfolio performance using category & shopper metrics
  • Strong commercial acumen to assess the value of investments and outcomes
  • Detailed understanding of commercial business drivers and metrics assessing revenue, profit, brand value and ROI
  • Knows the interdependencies of other functional areas and how teams work together to grow brands and deliver profit.
