Lion is one of Australasia’s largest food and beverage companies, and the Dairy & Drinks division of the business is currently looking for a mid-level lawyer (4-6 PQE) to join the team as a Legal Counsel on a 12-month maternity leave contract.
In this role you will provide legal support to our dynamic Marketing, Research & Development and Quality teams. You will also be the legal business partner for the entire Vitasoy Australia business, one of our key joint ventures. You will assist these teams in reviewing all advertising materials and brand campaigns, advising on new product development and product claims, negotiating sponsorships, influencer, licence and other commercial agreements.
You will advise the teams on a broad range of legal issues including intellectual property, consumer and competition law, product liability, privacy, lotteries and trade promotions and the Food Standards Code.
This is a great opportunity for a commercially astute lawyer with exceptional communication skills to join our team. We are looking for collaborative lawyer who thrives in an ambiguous, dynamic environment and uses creative and practical solutions to resolve issues.
Experience in consumer and intellectual property law will be important to hit the ground running and knowledge of competition law and the Food Standards Code will be considered favourably. FMCG or product experience would also be viewed favourably, more important is your ability to understand the commercial drivers of a business and respond appropriately.
