We recommend business casual attire for all corporate interviews. However, depending on the site you are visiting, there may be different requirements such as enclosed shoes and long shirts and pants. Make sure you speak to your Talent Acquisition Partner if you are unsure of the dress code.
Technology plays an important role in our everyday lives and our hiring process at Lion is no different. Our Talent Acquisition team may use AI in various scenarios:
We design our hiring experiences with you as the candidate in mind, so we embrace technology where it can enhance your experience, create efficiencies, or positively impact the fairness of the selection process. This allows us to focus on meaningful interactions during interviews and assessments, where we can get to know the authentic you. All decisions throughout our selection processes are human ones.
- Crafting job ads or messages (although we always add the personal touch before we hit publish!)
- Searching our database to find resumes or profiles that match a role we are hiring for
- Scheduling interviews
- Assessment scoring
- Research
- Automating workflows

Navigating the job application journey can be quite a ride, and we're here to help you make the most of it, including when to bring in the tech-savvy GenAI and when to let your authentic self shine.
Feel free to use GenAI to organise your resume, highlight key skills, and stand out. But when it comes to showcasing your unique personality, passion, and the story that sets you apart, Don't Settle for Ordinary. Let your genuine self take the lead during interviews and assessments.
In a nutshell, use GenAI to polish your professional presence, but remember that it's you we're eager to get to know. We're not just about the checkboxes and keywords, we're about building connections with real people.

We understand that online videos can be somewhat daunting – especially if you have never completed one before! Check out the tips below to help you feel comfortable and confident:
For more details on what to expect, check out the Hirevue site here: https://eu.hirevue.com/ui/learn-more/#/on-demand
- Practice first – Log in early to test the platform and get comfortable before recording your actual responses.
- Get comfortable – Choose a quiet space where you feel relaxed and can speak freely.
- Check your lighting – Position yourself facing a light source so your face is well-lit. Avoid sitting in front of windows or bright backgrounds that create shadows.
- Make it a conversation – You're talking to us, not to yourself! Vary your tone, show enthusiasm, and tell us what excites you about the role.
- Be yourself – Take a breath, smile, and let your personality shine through. We want to see the real you!

Our interviews are designed for us to assess what matters most for performance in a particular role, and for you to understand the role, the team and the company to determine if it's the right move for you.
First round interviews typically include understanding your skills, experience and careers aspirations, as well as bahavioural questions.
If the role you are applying for requires a second stage, you may be asked to present back on a case study or to participate in a role-play scenario. In second stage interviews, the interview panel will be looking to do a deeper dive into the specific skills and requirements of the role, as well as delve deeper into the information that has come to light from your assessment results.

- Arrive a little early: We recommend getting to your interview at least 5 minutes before it’s scheduled to start – this will allow you time to sign in and have a chance to take a quick look around or nip to the bathroom.
- Review the role profile: Spend some time reading through all the information the Talent Acquisition Partner has shared with you ahead of your interview. Make note of any questions you have about the position, team and organisation. Interviews are a great chance for you to learn more about the position, what the environment and team is like, as well as asking any questions you might have about the wider company, vision and strategy.
- Question time: When answering questions, we recommend trying to be as succinct as possible and using examples from your experience that are specific to what you have been responsible for (think more about “I” vs. a generic “we”).
- Be yourself: We want to get to know YOU as well as your experience. Try and relax and let your personality and the things that make you you shine through! We know that interviews can be a little daunting, but our team are there to make you feel comfortable and let you know you are in a safe environment.
- Remember – while we are interviewing you, you are also interviewing us as your potential employers and teammates. Make sure you get out of the interview what you want – ask your questions and talk about the things that are important to you. Make sure that when you leave your interview, you walk away satisfied that you have all the information you need to make a decision about your next career move.
- Set the scene: provide context (talk to the interview panel through the current environment and how this ‘problem’ or issue has arisen).
- Describe the purpose: Talk through the task that was required (identify the problem that you are trying to solve and define why it was a problem).
- Describe what you did: What actions did you take to solve the problem (be specific – what are the actions you were responsible for? What input did you have?)
- Share: Talk through the outcome or the results of your actions (Were you successful? What did that success look like?)
- Reflect: Share with the team any reflections you have had on this situation (would you do it differently next time? Would you have asked different questions in the beginning?).

Grace Crosswell
Hi, I’m Grace! Resident Kiwi in Australia and former teacher who found her way into Talent Acquisition. I’m lucky enough to partner with our Supply Chain teams at LION and love connecting great people with great opportunities. When I’m not at LION doing what I love, you’ll find me lapping Centennial Park, dog-spotting at Rushcutters, or exploring Sydney’s hospo scene (and proudly pointing out all the LION products I spot in the wild).

Hi, I'm Jess, Auckland-based Talent Acquisition Partner, and professional people connector of 14 years. I'm the kind of person who loves a challenge, turning chaos into opportunities, and staying upbeat and positive through it all. I'm always up for a yarn - whether you need advice or just a good chat.
Before matching talent with dream jobs, I was a professional surfer riding waves while juggling home-schooling. These days I'm a mum to Indie and Aria and enjoy Cuppa Club with my besties - where crafting and A+ yappin' are all on the agenda.

Vee Dong
Hi, I’m Vee! Four years into my LION adventure and still saying “yay!” about everything. As the Talent Acquisition Partner for Supply Chain, I split my time between Tooheys Brewery and the York Street Head office, spreading good vibes, bad jokes, and probably some cat fur from my two fur babies. If you hear someone saying “woohoo!” in the corridor…it’s probably me!

Jordan Miller
After four years in the U.S. studying and competitively rowing, I learned the true meaning of resilience and teamwork. Growing up with publican parents and spending my fair share of time around pubs taught me the value of authentic connections whether it’s over a schooner of XXXX or via a Teams call. As a proud Queenslander calling Sydney home, I bring a mix of People Operations and Talent expertise to the table. I partner with our sales teams to build high-performing teams by aligning the right talent with the right role driving collaboration, growth, and success across the business.
