FAQs

  • How do I apply for a job at Lion?
Have a look at what’s available on our 'Search Jobs' page. If you don’t see a role that fits your talents, register a general profile and let us know which areas of Lion you’re interested in. We’ll let you know when something suitable comes up.
  • How do I get my CV or application noticed?
Keep it simple, concise, easy to read and focused on selling your skills. A CV should be no longer than two pages. Make it professional and clear with no grammatical errors, spelling mistakes or typos.

We also recommend that you fully research and understand the role before applying. And only apply for positions that you meet the minimum requirements for. In short, you need to make sure you’re fully committed and qualified before submitting an application.
  • What is Lion’s interview and selection process?
This varies according to the role but in general it’s a four-stage process. We’ll review your experience, a range of competencies and if it’s relevant we’ll also ask you to prepare some form of exercise or presentation at either the first or second interview stage. We’ll also ask candidates to complete a variety of agility tests. This will include verbal, numerical and abstract reasoning and a "Professional Styles Competency Potential Questionnaire".

Finally before making a decision, we're going to ask you to come along to a sociability exercise. This will give you an opportunity to meet some of people you may be working.
  • Can I apply for more than one position?
Yes, but please make sure that they are all positions you have the experience and skills to do – and do well.
  • I’ve applied for a job at Lion – will I receive a personal response?
Of course we’ll let you know when we receive your application. And if you make it through to the interview stage, we’ll contact you personally.

If you’re not quite right for a position, we’ll let you know you haven’t made it to the interview round this time.
  • I was not successful in the application process. Will I get feedback?
It depends where you were in the process. We can give feedback after interviews, but not after the CV screening stage – we receive so many applications and just can’t get back to everyone.
  • Can I register as a speculative applicant?
Yes, you can. If you go to our Lion Careers page, you can register your profile, upload your CV and tell us what kind of jobs you’re interested in. You can also sign up for email alerts so you know when the right position comes along.

We’ll be searching our candidate pool whenever a vacancy comes up as well. So if we feel your experience matches what we’re looking for, we’ll give you a call.
  • I am having issues with my job submission and application, what should I do?
The most common issue is forgetting your username or password. There are links on the login page to help you out here, but just in case the email doesn’t arrive, check your junk mail first before getting in contact.

If for some reason you still having problems with your application or user account. Send an email to our team at resourcing.lion@lionco.com.
  • Does Lion use recruitment agencies?
Lion does have a panel of preferred suppliers and our own internal sourcing team. So for permanent and fixed-term vacancies we use a variety of sources to find suitable candidates, the majority of which we directly source ourselves.
  • How can we work with Lion?
On the very rare occasion that we do need to work with an agency, we work with our preferred suppliers, who have a strong track record of success with Lion. At the moment we’re not looking to make any changes to that list.
  • Will you accept speculative CVs from recruitment agencies?
Sorry, no we don’t. And if you do send in CVs we won’t acknowledge your ownership of the candidate. This includes if you send them through to a Lion team member.

How can we prove to you that we can be successful finding candidates?

This is a tough one. We understand your desire to work with us, but we’re inundated with enquiries. Watch this space and we’ll let you know when the list is up for review.

Or you can always email your details to resourcing.lion@lionco.com.
  • How often should we contact you and how?
We’re going to be completely honest and say that really we would prefer it if you didn’t. We’ll get in touch with you.

However, if you do decide to contact us, email is best. Please use the address given above and do be aware that you may not get a response. As you’d expect, both line managers and individual members of the recruitment team are extremely busy, so we’d appreciate you taking note of this. It means we can get on with our work and, if we do decide to take you up on your offer, our relationship will get off to the best possible start.
